What is a Core?

A core is your old part that is being replaced. These returned parts are fully stripped down and remanufactured for future use.

This process is what makes recycling and remanufacturing possible in the automotive industry, and allows us to provide OEM-quality components at a significantly lower cost.

What is a Core Deposit?

Certain products sold by Planet Parts require a Core Deposit. This is a refundable deposit applied to items such as injectors, pumps, and turbochargers. If a core deposit applies, it will be clearly stated in the product description.

The Core Deposit is added to your order total at checkout. Once your original core is returned and approved under the criteria below, the deposit will be refunded to your original payment method or issued as store credit (your choice).

Core Return Requirements

To qualify for a full core refund, all cores must meet the following:

• Returned within 60 days of the original ship date
• Like-for-like (same part type as purchased)
• Complete and intact, including all internal components
• Free of damage or tampering

Planet Parts is not responsible for damage during return shipping. The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs, including insurance, duties, and any associated fees.

Non-Qualifying / Partial Credit Cores

The following conditions may result in denial or reduced core credit:

• Incorrect or non-matching cores (“like-for-like” not met)
• Acceptable but mismatched cores may incur a minimum $25 per unit fee
• Physical damage (including shipping damage)
• Missing or damaged internal or external components
• Signs of disassembly, tampering, or modification
• Seized pump components (head and/or rotor)
• Broken or missing electrical or solenoid components
• Missing or damaged nozzles
• Incomplete cores
• Cores returned after 60 days

Late Core Returns

Cores received after the 60-day window may be eligible for partial credit only, at Planet Parts’ discretion.

How to Return Your Core

1. Package your core securely, preferably using the original packaging
2. Clearly label the box with:
• Your Name
• Order Number
• “CORE”
3. Ship to:

Processing Time

Core returns are typically inspected within 2–3 business days of receipt. Approved refunds are generally processed within 10 business days thereafter. Please allow additional time for your financial institution to reflect the returned funds.
